Death
Charles "Charlie" Masterson, age 81, passed away peacefully at his home in Mena, Arkansas, on April 12, 2025. Born on July 23, 1943, in Bremen, Indiana, Charlie was the beloved son of Ellwood Ora Masterson and Etta Masterson. In 1961, in Plymouth, Indiana, Charlie married his first wife, Ida Elizabeth (Feltner) Masterson. They shared many wonderful years together until her passing. Later in life, Charlie found love again with Mary (Cates) Masterson, and they were married on May 24, 2015, in Texas. Charlie spent his career working as a truck driver, mechanic, and auto salvage technician. In his free time, he enjoyed NASCAR races, hunting, fishing, camping, and, most of all, spending time with his family. A man of strong Christian faith, Charlie was a member of the Baptist church. He will be remembered for his hearty laughter, his deep love for his family, and his unwavering belief in giving people second chances. Charlie had a big heart and treasured watching his family grow across generations. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Masterson; his four children, Betty Jack, Charles Masterson Jr., Charlotte Furr, and Christopher Masterson; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren - Brent, Brianna, Cailyn, Riley, Kenzlie, and Brody; and two great-great-grandchildren, Josiah and Ozzy. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Ellwood and Etta Masterson, and his first wife, Ida Elizabeth Masterson. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Ash Creek Cemetery in Azle, Texas, where Charles will be laid to rest next to his first wife, Ida. Cremation arrangements are under the thoughtful care of Lewis Funeral Chapel.Endnotes
