Death

DURHAM — Leonard E. Staunton, “Len” died on Friday July 26, 2013 in Durham. He attended Durham Academy and graduated from Appalachian State University. He was a member of Cresset Baptist Church. He was employed at T.E.A.C.C.H. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was an avid reader. Surviving are his parents, Jack and Sally Furr Staunton of Durham; his sister, Jaci Pergerson and nephew, Bryce of Rougemont; his aunt, Elaine Hartley and cousins, Bob, Doug and Brian Hartley, all of Raleigh. A private graveside funeral service was held at Maplewood Cemetery on Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Memorials may be made to Cressett Baptist Church, 3707 Garrett Road, Durham, North Carolina 27707. Howerton & Bryan Funeral Home assisted the Staunton family.
