Death

Mrs. Betty Crowell Stoker, age 88, of 33426 Old Salisbury Road, Albemarle, NC, passed away on Thursday, July 19th, 2012 with dignity and grace after her courageous seven year battle. Her Graveside Service will be at 10 AM on Monday, July 23rd, 2012 in Stanly Gardens of Memory in Albemarle, NC and Rev. David Steele will officiate. Born February 15th, 1924 in Union County, NC, Mrs. Stoker was the daughter of the late Ransom Crowell and Rilla Byrum Crowell. She was a retired LPN with Stanly Memorial Hospital and a member of West Albemarle Baptist Church. She loved to work in her flower garden and loved to read. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Stoker, and two brothers, Tom Crowell and Herman Crowell. She is survived by two children, John Thomas Stoker, Jr. of Arizona and Susan Stoker Furr of Troy, NC. The family will receive friends at the McLawhorn Residence, 627 N. 8th Street, Albemarle, N.C. from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, July 22, 2012 and memorials can be made to: Spray/Neuter Veterinary Clinic of the Sandhills, 5071 US Hwy 1, Vass, N.C. 28394.
