Death
University, Aug. 13 — John Dewitt Furr, superintendent of the power plant at the University of Mississippi since 1909, died at his home Friday about 11:15 p.m. at the of 72. He had been ill since last November. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 4 p. m., at the Douglass Funeral home in Oxford, with burial following in St. Peter's. Cemetery. Mr. Furr served as power plant superintendent following erection of the present power house in 1908. Born August 6, 1877, in Lafayette county, he attended the University where he received the Bachelor of Science in 1902 and Master of Arts, 1905. He is a member of Presbyterian church. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Mary Furr, Oxford; one son, Hilman Furr, chief operator of the power plant; two brothers, Robert P. Furr, Oxford, assistant power superintendent, and Currie Furr, Helen; three sisters, Mrs. W. W. Kimmons, Mrs. W. R. White and Mrs. Kate Jackson, all of Oxford; and four grandchildhildren.
