Death
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home chapel in Jackson for Mrs. Henrietta C. Furr, 90, of East Mays Street in Jackson, who died Tuesday evening after a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. that day at Highland Cemetery in Hattiesburg with Moore Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements. The Rev. P.E. Downey will officiate. Mrs. Furr, a former longtime resident of Hattiesburg, was a member of Main Street Baptist Church and the City View Home and Garden Club while living here. She served as president of the Hattiesburg Garden Council and was awarded a lifetime membership as an accredited flower judge. She was also a member of the Altrusia Club and active in YWCA activities. She was the widow of Norris J. Furr, who died in 1950. In Jackson, Mrs. Furr was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She also was active in the Hinds County Women’s Civic Club and the Jackson Irish Society. She was an Eastern Star member as well as a member of the Jackson UDC. Survivors are three sisters, Mrs. John C. Anderson of Jackson, Mrs. Bertha Smith of Brookhaven, and Mrs. Arlene Mangum of Austin, Tex., and several nieces and nephews.Hattiesburg American, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, February 13, 1980
