Death

CONCORD Mrs. Angelia Irene Blackwelder Lee Whitley, 87, passed away at Universal Health Care on Thursday, May 26, 2011. Irene was born in Stanly County on May 19, 1924. She was one of two daughters born to Farrell and Gatha Furr Blackwelder. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Concord. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ellis Nelson Lee and later by her second husband, Marvin Durwood Whitley Sr. Mrs. Whitley is survived by her daughter Teka King and her husband, Buddy of Concord; sons, Nelson Edvin Lee Sr. and his wife, Emily of Kannapolis; Jeff Whitley and his wife, Audrey of Concord; and Marty Whitley of Concord; sister, Ann Patterson and her husband, Grady of Raleigh; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 30 at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tom Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Wilkinson Funeral Home and will be at 538 Camrose Circle (Oakleaf Condominiums) the remaining times.
