Death

CONCORD - Mr. James Winston Smart, 69, of Concord, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2010, at the Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House. The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Wilkinson Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends on Tuesday, July 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home in Scottsboro, Ala. The funeral will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday, at Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Pace officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Haven Memorial Gardens. Mr. Smart was born on June 15, 1941, in Larkinsville, Ala., to the late Samuel Houston and Mable James Smart. Along with his parents, he preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Wilkerson Smart, who passed away in 1990. Mr. Smart retired from IBM. He is survived by one daughter, Ms. Karen S. Furr, of Charlotte; one son, Mr. Greg Smart, of Concord; one brother, Mr. Sam Smart, of Pisgah, Ala.; and one granddaughter, Ava Furr. Memorials may be made to Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081. Wilkinson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the Smart family.
