Death
William Swinton Dove III, "Bill". SHERRILLS FORD -- Mr. Dove, 68, of Drena Dr., Sherrills Ford, NC, formerly of Concord, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at his residence. Born August 13, 1942, he was the son of the late William Swinton Dove, Jr. and Mildred Furr Dove of Kannapolis, NC. Mr. Dove was a 1964 graduate of Wake Forest University. He was in the car business all his life, having started his career at Bill Dove Motor Company in Kannapolis. He later started an auto brokerage firm called Five Doves, Inc. Mr. Dove once served as Secretary of the NC Rebuilders Association. He grew up as a member of First Baptist Church of Kannapolis, and more recently attended Calvary Lutheran Church, Concord. For many years he was a youth baseball and basketball coach for the Cabarrus County Recreation Department. Mr. Dove resided in Punta Gorda, FL for the last 6 years where he was member of the Isles Yacht Club. He was preceded in death by his sister, Julia 'Judy' Dove and is survived by his wife, Bonnie Chappell Dove, whom he married February 14, 1970; children, Holly Dove, of Charlotte, Heather Dove Devereux and husband Gabe, of Charlotte, and Travis Dove and wife, Dr. Kerry Anzenberger Dove, of Carrboro, NC. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Concord, with Reverend Doctor Richard C. Little officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Lung Cancer Partnership or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society which he endorsed in support of his daughter.
