Death
GEORGE T. CANTRELL, JR. 78, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010. He was the son of George T. Cantrell, Sr. and Nellie Mae Furr Cantrell and was born in Uvalde, Texas. A 1951 graduate of San Angelo High School, George served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from Otis Engineering in Carrollton after 33 years of service. George was also a highly respected Masonic Lodge member for 55 years. Besides his family, George's interests included hunting, photography, square dancing, wood working and cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed caring for his 2 cats (Marcy and Tigger) as well as feeding the birds in his backyard where he spent many quiet hours. George was a devout Christian and prided himself in being a member of Valley View Baptist Church in Carrollton. He always made everyone smile as he ended each visit by saying, "We'll look at ya down the road." George was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Helen, three sons, Gerald Russell Cantrell (wife Cristiana), Dwight Cantrell and Al Cantrell, and three daughters, Nell Gafford and husband Ron, Beverly Davidson and husband Keith, Lisa Lamb and life partner Ronnie Carradine. Additional survivors are eight grandchildren, Micah (wife Jaime), Emily (husband Steven), Sarah, Naomi, Elisabeth, Kyle (Tater), Gabriele, Loretta, and four great grandchildren, Konnor, Steven, Caleb, and Jason. Visitation will be Sunday, March 7th from 12:00-4:00 pm and Monday, March 8th from 10am-2 pm at the Rhoton Funeral Home in Carrollton. Funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Ernest Boren at 11:30 am Tuesday, March 9th. Graveside services will follow at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas at 2:00 pm.
