Death

MORTON, Marion Billy, 87, of Richmond, Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 24, 2014. Bill was born December 20, 1926 in Albemarle, N.C., and was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Bethie Almond Morton; and a brother, Coolidge Morton. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gloria Furr Morton. He is also survived by his sons, Richard Morton of Richmond and Jim Morton (Debby) of Douglasville, Ga.; his daughter, Kathy Morton Comess (Rick) of Ashland, Va.; his brothers, Joe Morton of Camden, S.C. and Jack Morton of Rome, Ga.; his grandchildren, Leigh Echelberger (Jared Marek), Eric Echelberger, Hayes Morton and Jessica Morton. Bill attended public school in Albemarle, N.C. and graduated from Duke University and Duke University Law School. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Bill retired in 1991 as District Counsel with the Internal Revenue Service. He was an active member of Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church for over 35 years. Family and friends are welcome to celebrate his life at a service on Friday, February 28, at 1 p.m. at Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church, 7000 Park Ave., Richmond, Va. 23226. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church, Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad or a favorite charity.
