Death
CUMMING, Ga. -- William David Furr, 68, a retired national accounts manager for Alcatel Corp., died Friday, May 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta. Mr. Furr was a native and a longtime resident of Ocala before moving to Cumming three years ago. He was past president of the Ocala Junior Chamber of Commerce; trustee and honorary member of the Florida Telephone Association; member of the National Association of Telephone Pioneers, the Roadrunners, P.A.L.S and Ocala Elks Lodge. In 1970, Alcatel Corp. named Mr. Furr "Young Man of the Year." He also a member of the Cumming First United Church. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Elizabeth Furr, Cumming; daughters, Ellen Roberta Schwarz, Julian Katherine Birch; sisters, Patty Link, Ocala, Coleen Searles, Indian Harbor Beach; and three grandchildren.
