Notes
Death
Jane "Evelyn" Huneycutt Smith, 88, of Concord passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. She was loved by her family and friends. Mrs. Smith was born March 14, 1930 in Stanly County to the late Zebbie D Huneycutt and Ona Elizabeth Furr Huneycutt of Oakboro. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kennith D. Smith; infant son, Kennith Edward Smith; four brothers, Hoyle, Hubert, Bill, and Harold Huneycutt; and two sisters, Mildred Love and Ilene Harwood. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Oakboro High School. She married Kennith in 1948 and they were married for 49 years before his death in 1997. She was a member of Westford United Methodist Church and enjoyed delivering recorded copies of the church services to those unable to attend on Sunday. Mrs. Smith worked for Craftsmen Finishers as a floor lady and then became a nurse assistant for Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, retiring from North East Medical Center in 1992. Those left to cherish Evelyn's memory include her son, Keith Eugene Smith (Mary) of Charlotte; daughter, Susan Smith Carter (Craig) of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Keith Eugene Smith, Jr. of Olin; Keeley Smith Ward (Chad) of Harmony; Ashley Carter Harris (Dave) of Huntersville; and Amanda Carter Blethen of Charlotte; and five great-grandchildren, Jackson and Cooper Ward, Mallory Harris, and Addison and Ellie Blethen. Family was the apple of Evelyn's eye, the sparkle in her heart, and the light of her life. She loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and play. They called her "Granny," a name she loved, because in her eyes, they could do no wrong. Services will be held Friday, May 25, 2018 at Westford United Methodist Church, 273 NC-49, Concord, officiated by Rev. Jeffrey Rushing. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm - 1:45pm, prior to the service at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.Endnotes
