Maxine Norwood, 78, of 306 Stilwell Oaks Circle, Charlotte, died at 7:25 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2008, in Wilora Lake Health Care Center.Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Marshville. The Rev. Charles Hensley will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.Born Feb. 24, 1930, in Union County, she was a daughter of the late Brooks and Margie Carpenter Stewart and was a homemaker. She was a member of Hickory Grove Methodist Church.A daughter, Marcella Saunders, preceded her in death.She is survived by a son, Jeff Norwood of Stanfield; three sisters, Evelyn Simpson of Monroe, Marie Furr and Nell Rushing, both of Oakboro; five grandchildren, Jake and Bradley Norwood of Stanfield; H.T. Saunders, Wes Saunders and Devin Saunders, all of Virginia Beach, Va.; and a son-in-law, Chip Saunders of Virginia Beach.The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hartsell Funeal Home of Midland.Memorials may be made to American Red Cross, 243 W.
