MT. PLEASANT, N.C. Luther Ray Hurlocker, 77, of Mt. Pleasant died Sunday, March 18, 2012 at his residence. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 22, at Gordon Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. William Nix. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery. The Hurlocker family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday prior to the funeral service. Mr. Hurlocker was born in Cabarrus County, son of the late Luther Ross Hurlocker and Mary Ethel Starnes Hurlocker. He was a retired custodian for several area churches, Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant and Glorieta Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Baby Ruth Furr Hurlocker; brothers, John and Floyd Hurlocker; and sisters, Alice H. Thomas and Mary Ruth Cochran. He is survived by a son Luther Hurlocker, III and his wife, Lynn; brother, Fred Hurlocker and his wife, Betty; and his very special granddaughter, Katelyn Rae Hurlocker.
