Death
Ann McCarter Furr, 68, of Norwood, died Monday, March 19, 2001, in NorthEast Medical Center. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. today with a 30-minute state in South Stanly Baptist Church. The Rev. Bobby Mowery will officiate and burial will be in Norview Gardens. Born Nov. 8, 1932, in Gaston County, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Etta Carter McCarter and was a retired cook with Compass Inc. She is survived by a special friend, Tony Furr of Norwood; two daughters, Sherri Colson and Terri Smith, both of Norwood; four sisters, Brenda Dunn of Kentucky, Laura Jackson of Gold Hill, Elma Johnson of Florida and Wanda Wilson of Lincolnton; four brothers, Billy McCarter of Florida, James McCarter of Lake City, Tenn; Michael McCarter and Roger McCarter, both of Tennessee; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
