A man who was never content to be idle, he also worked for 43 years with Ted Hinson's Auction House and for Lowe's Motor Speedway from its opening day in 1960 until 2004. He was well known in the community for his love of gardening and collecting antiques. Carl was a member of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ for 64 years, serving as a consistory member, treasurer for the men's brotherhood, church treasurer and Sunday school superintendent. Born May 25, 1922, in Stanly County, Carl was the son of the late Henry Durant and Odessa Furr Misenheimer.
