Death
LAKE WALES -- Mr. B. Wilson Furr of Lake Wales died of complications of pneumonia Thursday (April 21, 2005) at home. He was 88. Born in Crenshaw County, Ala., on Oct. 21, 1916, he came to Lake Wales from Beaumont, Pa., in 1952. He was a self-employed painting contractor for residential and commercial painting. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served as a tank commander. He received two Bronze Stars, an Oak Leaf Cluster and a Purple Heart. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church. Mr. Furr is survived by his wife, Jeanne Furr; daughters, Mary Jeanne West, Astor, Sally Windmon, Winter Haven; brothers, Owen Furr, Luverne, Ala., Athens Furr, Keystone Heights; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church in Lake Wales. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
