Death

A service will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Lisle Funeral Home Calaveras Chapel for Caruthers native Leroy H. Stark, who died Dec. 6 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fresno. Burial will follow at Fresno Memorial Gardens. Mr. Stark was a resident of Caruthers all of his life, where he was a farmer for 55 years before recently retiring. He was a Caruthers High School graduate and attended Fresno State College and was a member of the Sunmaid Growers Association and the First Methodist Church of Caruthers. He enjoyed riding horses and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Velma Stark of Caruthers; three daughters, Cecile Bolin, Barbara Chester, both of Fresno and Karen Muscio of Santa Maria; two sisters, Bernice Heddleston of Arkansas and Marie Wilkins of Clovis; a stepson, Larry Hinton of Selma; a stepdaughter, Anna Bates of Bakersfield; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 28 years, Geraldine Stark; and his parents, Harry and Elsie Stark. Remembrances may be sent to the American Heart Association, 1495 W.
