Nancy Richards Furr passed away on November 28, 2021, at the age of 89. Nancy passed peacefully while surrounded by those she loved, those who loved her, and the wonderful staff of Pennybyrn. Nancy grew up in Fairhaven, Massachusetts, born to Arthur and Irene Richards on May 6, 1932. Following high school graduation, Nancy completed secretarial training at Fischer College in Boston. Nancy used her training to honorably serve her country as a civilian in Germany. This is where she met the of love her life, Sanford "Sandy" Dacil Furr of Kannapolis, North Carolina, who preceded her in death. Upon their stateside arrival, Nancy quickly became a fixture in the Guilford College community and raised two sons, Stephen Richards Furr and Bryan David Furr. Nancy was a founding member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church where she was a member for 47 years. Nancy worked as a guidance secretary at Guilford Middle School where she spent 24 years loving and supporting the children of the Guilford College community until her retirement in 1997. Nancy was a friend to all and the love she put into her family, friends, and community was a blessing that was returned to her in her final days. Nancy never missed an opportunity to spend time with family, and could always be found at any school function or sporting event for her boys and later her grandchildren. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, bepa, and great bepa. Nancy leaves behind her sons Steve and Bryan and their wives, Tracy and Karen; grandchildren, Ben, Adam, Patrick, Marianna, and Reese and their spouses Sandra, James, and Laurie; and great grandchildren Benji, Owen, Elijah, Tessa, and Ivy.
