Death
Charlotte, North Carolina - Pamela Kay Furr passed away on February 18, 2023 after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer at the age of 68. Born on August 26, 1954 to the late Richard and Stella Clement of Detroit, MI. Pam is survived by her beloved husband, David; her children Charlotte and Richard Lindemanis; sister Kimberly Corrigan; adopted son Tim Wallace and many loving cousins, aunts & uncles. Pam was an avid scholar & world traveler, beginning her adventures at 16 when she served as an American Ambassador to Argentina from 1971-1972. Pam fondly remembered her exchange family in Cordoba and her only means of communication with home being a ham radio operator to send messages to Chagrin Falls, Ohio. After graduating Valedictorian from Kenston High School, Pam attended Cornell University where she received a degree in Economics and began her illustrious career as a financier and entrepreneur launching a student speakeasy in 1974 when the drinking age was lowered to 18. Pam began her Wall Street career at Smith Barney in 1976 where she became the youngest first vice president in the firm's 107-year history. She led derivatives for clients worldwide and managed large portfolios for major institutions including Chrysler Corp., IBM, Yale University and Bell Atlantic. Pam was revered as an incredibly loyal friend, mother, mentor, philanthropist and pillar of the community. Her love of music and fine arts culminated in her service to numerous boards and charitable initiatives including Charlotte Concerts, Charlotte Symphony, and the Charlotte Opera. Pam cherished her family and her wide circle of friends, especially the Ladies of Linville Ridge and her Charlotte golf and tennis friends. An avid tennis player and golfer with several hole-in-one flags, Pam remained an active contributor to the United States Tennis Association and the Board of the Charlotte Tennis Association even during her 11 month battle against cancer. Her joy for life, unwavering optimism, positive spirit and smile will be missed by all. David, Charlotte and Richard invite family and friends to celebrate Pam's life at Duke Mansion in Charlotte, NC on Sunday, March 5th, from 2:00pm-5:00pm. A second celebration of life will be held at Linville Ridge Country Club in June. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pam's memory to Atrium Health's Levine Cancer Institute, 208 E. Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203.Published by Charlotte Observer on Feb. 22, 2023
