Death

Will of Henry Furror (Furrer) Mecklenburg County, North Carolina Book C, Page 57. Gave the date of his will and he died shortly after. His granite tombstone has "1769" etched on it. Henry (Heinrich)'s will was made 27 September 1769, but there is no record that this is his actual death date.

"A large crowd of Furrs and family connections attended the annual Furr family reunion on Sunday at Bear Creek Primitive Baptist church and enjoyed the day long series of events which followed a bountiful dinner on the grounds at noon. Among the many speakers were Judge T.G. Furr of Salisbury, Rev. W.T. Albright of Greensboro, Carl Furr of Raleigh, Cecil Furr of Utah, and G.P. Furr of Arizona. Music and song was furnished during the day by the Furr quartet of Concord, the Hinson family of Stanfield, and the choirs of Liberty Hill and Bear Creek Primitive Baptist churches. John Page and his famed auto harp were also present and rendered selections for the gathering. Rev. Mr. Albright spoke in behalf of a campaign to secure funds to erect a monument at the grave of * Henry Furr, the original Furr who came to this country from Germany about 1758. The grave of this ancestor is located not far from Georgeville in Cabarrus county. Many contributions were made on Sunday for this purpose. New officers elected were: A. A. Furr, president; Shufford Furr, secretary-treasurer; committee to arrange for the 1954 reunion, P. E. Herrin, Millard Furr and Ed Burleson."

Burial

According to Mae Elizabeth Herrin Perry, Heinrich Furrer's cabin was built by the west side of Buffalo Creek with the graveyard next to it. In 1762, Buffalo Creek was probably a small creek. Water flooded the cabin and graveyard. The second graveyard was made on the east side of the creek upon a hill and is called the John Furr graveyard. She believes John Furr and his wife, Catherine, are buried there.

Per Linda Sims, "When you leave Concord and drive toward Georgeville on Hwy 200, when you get to Georgeville, take a left at the Fire Dept. That road is Barrier-Georgeville Road. Go exactly 2 miles and the cemetery is on the left. It is not marked by anything and at first I was not sure we were at the correct cemetery but after looking I found my Great great great grandparents, John Stallings and Rachel Furr. There are not that many actual tombstones there, I would say about 80% of them are just stones or large pieces of granite for headstones."
