Death
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Dannis (Dan) Furr of Oroville, California, on November 7, 2025. Dan was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Willo Dean Furr, his sisters Patsy Buchanan and Val Daniels, and brothers John Furr and Vernon Furr. He is survived by his sister Gloria Shaffer, and brother Douglas Furr. Dan was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, but resided most of his life in California where he met his wife Lynne. Dan and Lynne welcomed their children Janet Furr-Kalpakoff (Ron Kalpakoff) and Dannis "Danny" Furr, four grandchildren, Justin, Benjamin, Molly, and Chelsea, and one great-grandchild, Artemis. Dan worked as an industrial electrician for over 30 years. Dan was an adventurer. He enjoyed diving, fishing, camping, and traveling. Dan's greatest adventures included his annual trips to the desert with the guys and his trip to Alaska to run naked through the tundra. Dan was an avid reader; he loved a good action crime novel. Dan volunteered at Gray Lodge Wildlife Area in Gridley for the education program for school children and for maintaining and monitoring hatches in the wood duck boxes. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Dan's life on January 10th, 2026, at 1 pm. The celebration will be held at Dunstone Memorial Hall, 4790 Foothill Blvd., Oroville, CA, 95966.Endnotes
