Death

Bernie Garrett Campbell, Sr., 74, of Asheboro, died Monday, July 13, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Rushwood Church with Dr. Brent Tysinger officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park. Born in Rockingham County, on October 8, 1940, Mr. Campbell was the son of the late Herbert and Mary Morris Campbell. He worked at BB Walker Shoe Company for 40 years and retired from Hughes Furniture Company in Randleman. Mr. Campbell was a member of Rushwood Church. He was a Master Bee Keeper and avid gardener. In addition to his parents, Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Campbell. Mr. Campbell is survived by his sons, Johnny Campbell, Jesse Campbell (Vickie Strider), Bernie Campbell, all of Asheboro, and Clifton Campbell of Virginia; daughters, Debbie Russell and husband, Terry, and Nora Campbell (Randy Miller), all of Asheboro; brother, Robert Campbell of Ether; special niece, Becky Williams and husband, Homer, of Seagrove; 13 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
