Death

Lydia Hill Furr, 75, went to her heavenly home to be with our lord on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2005. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. today at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, Sedgefield Chapel. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., prior to the service. Mrs. Furr was a loving and devoted homemaker who doted on her family and friends. To meet her, was to love her. She was a member of the Hopewell Wesleyan Church and the United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Russell and Mary Bernice Cashatt Hill and her brother, Leon Hill. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, the Rev. Alfred S. Furr; her children, Lydia Alfreda "Alfie" Furr Roberts and her husband, Allen of Greensboro, Roger Dale Furr and his wife, Jackie of Pickens, S.C., and Philip Lester Furr and his wife, Betsy of Currituck; sisters, Alice Johnson and her husband Bobby, Frankie Spainhour and her husband, Harold, Gladys Layton and Susie Hill; brothers, Lloyd R. Hill and his wife, Evelyn, Clifford Hill and his wife, Mary, J.C. Hill and his wife, Kim and Carson Hill and his wife, Nancy. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
