Death
Mrs. Cora Lee McGuirt Furr, age 76, of Sharon Village Nursing Home, died Tuesday, December 20, 1983, at Mercy Hospital. Mrs. Furr was born May 20, 1907 in Union County, daughter of the late Thomas and Roxie McLean McGuirt. She was a member of College Park Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday, December 23, at McEwen West Chapel conducted by the Rev. Gene Cole, pastor of Devonshire Baptist Church, and the Rev. William H. Coughlin. Interment will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. She is survived by her husband, Silas M. Furr, Sr.; five sons, Daniel Luther Furr of Asheboro, NC, Charles D. Furr of Roanoke, VA, Silas M. Furr, Jr., Kenneth L. Furr and Johnny Mack Furr, all of Charlotte; five daughters, Mrs. Ruby Greene of Matthews, Mrs. Doris Robinson, Mrs. Betty Beeler, Mrs. Shirley Helms, and Mrs. Brenda Moore, all of Charlotte; one sister, Mrs. Mae Knight of Myrtle Beach, SC; 30 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Thursday, at McEwen West Chapel.The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, North Carolina, December 22, 1983
