Death

STANFIELD - McLain Love Furr, 96, of 203 S. Love Chapel Road, Stanfield, N.C., died on Sept. 11, 2009. She was born on July 5, 1913, in Stanly County, N.C. The visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at Love's Chapel United Methodist Church. The Revs. Luci Blizzard, Leslee Wray and Bruce League will officiate. The burial will be at Love's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. She was a postmaster for the postal service and a member of Love's Chapel United Methodist Church in Stanfield. She is survived by her son, Douglas L. Furr and wife, Connie, of Stanfield; daughter, Patricia Duncan and husband, Ed, of Stuart, Fla.; five grandchildren, Lindsay McLain Smith and husband, Jonathan, Samantha Furr, Pamela Duncan, Amy Eversmeyer and husband, Jeff, and Mike Duncan and wife, LeAnna; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Furr; father, Wade Hampton Love; mother, Ona Belle Barbee Love; two sisters; and six brothers. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 North First St., Albemarle, NC 28001, or to Love's Chapel United Methodist Church, 808 South Love Chapel Road, Stanfield, NC 28163. Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland, is serving the Furr family.
