Death

Robert Braswell Furr, 90, of Albemarle NC, passed away Thursday November 22, 2012 at Carolina’s Medical Center Main, Charlotte NC. His funeral service will be at 11 AM on Monday November 26, 2012 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 until 10:45 on Monday at Stanly Funeral Home prior to the hour of service. Born April 1, 1922 in Stanly County, NC, he was the son of the late Walter Puese Furr and Pearl Braswell Furr. A graduate of Albemarle High School, Mr. Furr was in new and used automobile sales for over 40 years and after retirement worked at Lowe’s of Albemarle. He was also a former member of the North Carolina Highway Patrol and a veteran of the US Navy in WWII. He enjoyed playing golf and watching baseball games. He was married to the late Evelyn Aldridge Poplin Furr. Survivors include step-sons Harold A. “Tony” Poplin of Charlotte and Randy J Poplin (Debbie) of Eden NC and sister Brenda Furr of Albemarle as well as 5 grandchildren, Kelly Poplin, Whitney Freeburn, Lindsey Poplin, Joseph Poplin and Taylor Hopper, and 4 great-grandchildren.
