Tuesday, May 25, 2006 — Cecil Davis Furr, 71, of 118 Jefferson Drive, Locust, died at 7:31 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2006, in NorthEast Medical Center. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Philadelphia Baptist Church in Stanfield, where he was a member. The Rev. Dwight Mabry will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Born Nov. 4, 1934, in Stanfield, Stanly Count, he was a son of the late Henry Lester Furr and Gertie Mae Barbee Furr and was a welder for BASF Chemical in Charlotte. He was U.S. Army veteran. Two grandchildren, Kerri Efird and Trevor Hudson, two sisters and five brothers all preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Mary Tucker Furr of Locust; three daughters, Terry Griffin and husband, David, of Oakboro, Tracy Efird and husband, Scott of Locust, and Renea Neugebauer and husband, Mike; three grandsons, Jeremy Griffin and wife, Mandy, Daniel Griffin and wife, Lauren, and J ames Griffin; a granddaughter Tiffany Hudson; two stepgrandsons; and a great-granddaughter, Stella Griffin. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland.
