Death

CONCORD - Mr. Bois Andrew Furr Sr., 78, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 19, 2010, at CMC-NorthEast. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, at Kerr Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Brad Jones and Dr. Stanley Spence officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, at Wilkinson Funeral Home and will be at 131 Stacybrook Drive SE the remaining time. Mr. Furr was born Nov. 22, 1931, in Cabarrus County, son of the late Charles A. Furr and Emma Brown Furr Poston. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Morton. Bois was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War. He retired from Saunders Utility and was an active member of Kerr Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lillian Yow Furr; son, Bois A. "Chip" Furr Jr. and wife, Patti, of Concord; grandson, Britton A. Furr and wife, Ann, of Concord; sister, Sue Gardner, of High Point; brothers, Kenneth Furr, of Concord, and Eural Furr, of Austin, Texas. Memorials may be made to Kerr Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 25 Highway 49 S., Concord, NC 28025, or to American Diabetes Association , Charlotte, N.C. office, 222 South Church St., Suite 336M, Charlotte, NC 28202.
