Death
February 27th, 1964 changed the world. It brought Jule Furr into our lives; born in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville, NC. Jule took on many roles during her time on this earth; a sister, a daughter, a friend, and a companion, but beyond that, she was an aunt, a best friend, a wife, and most importantly, a mother. Jule was treasured, loved, and fought for her life daily to be with her family. Jule defined life and did not let life define her. She fought cancer for over 41 years, and managed all of the challenges that came with the battle, while rejoicing in the triumphs with an attitude of "ain't nothing but a thing." She persevered through the struggles and always acknowledged the perspective in which life offered. This gave her the will to influence and share her strength with others. As Jule grew from a daughter and sister to a wife and mother, she carried the burden of fear: fear of the never-ending fight and her ability to overcome the cards in which she was dealt. Jule always acknowledged her greatest gifts in this world- her husband of 30 years, Bryan Furr and her children, Jordan and Christian "Fuzzy" Furr. Jule could find peace in difficult realities because of her faith in her husband. Jule would tell you that she didn't deserve Bryan, but she was blessed to have him as her husband and best friend. Jule allowed her faith to guide her through life. She leveraged moments of weakness to define life-lasting moments of influence and strength. She battled with life decisions at young ages to ensure that her values were instilled in those that she cared about the most. Jule always lead by example, which she attested to the strength she found from God. She left a legacy to live on in her children, Jordan and Fuzzy, and in her husband, Bryan. Those who knew Jule were blessed, and those who did not have an opportunity to meet Jule will be inspired by her life and adopt her stories to strengthen their own hearts. In ever lasting memory, Jule Furr, her favorite verse: "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through whom we gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us," Romans 5: 1-5. Jule was predeceased by mother Kathleen Matthews in 1990 and father Marvin Matthews in January 2017. She is survived by her husband, Bryan Furr, and her two children, Jordan Furr and Fuzzy Furr. She had four siblings: Mary Ann Addis, Kathy Atchley, Chris Matthews and wife Patty, and Linda Matthews and wife Paula. She had nine nieces and nephews: Christy, Matthew, Kelly, Christopher, Kaity, Hunter, Nick, Ansley, and Mason. She enjoyed spending time with her great nephews Austin, Jackson, Emmett and Graham. "Being a fighter was what Jule did, but not who she was!" - Friends & Family. Funeral arrangements will be held at Eastside Baptist Church (2450 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta, GA 30068) on Saturday, December 9th at 1:00p.m. In lieu of flower arrangements please donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.Endnotes
