Death
Donna Dee Hamman Love-Furr, age 82, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, surrounded by her loving friends and family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Hubert "Red" and Jennadee (Davis) Hamman. Born with a vibrant spirit and a zest for life, Donna was known for her infectious energy and warmth. She had a unique ability to connect with people, never knowing a stranger, and her spunky personality brightened the lives of everyone she met. Donna lived her life on her own terms, embracing every moment with grace and strength. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Born and raised in Mansfield, Ohio, Donna graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1960, where she cherished lifelong friendships with her classmates. After high school, she worked as a deputy clerk at the Mansfield Municipal Courts and dabbled in modeling, becoming the very first Miss Fun Center of Ohio. Following her marriage to her first husband, Bob Love, the couple moved south, where Bob introduced her to a fulfilling career in selling cemetery lots-a profession she embraced for most of her life. Donna later married John Furr, and together they settled in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she made many dear friends. In 2019, after her marriage to John ended, Donna made the heartfelt decision to return to Ohio, bringing joy to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She carried on her father's beloved recipe for Red Hamman's Medium Hot mixed vegetables, a cherished family tradition since his passing. Donna is survived by her special friend Burk Jisa, her sister/cousin Sandy Hamman Rucker-who shared many mischievous adventures with her, cousins Doug and Barb Sweet, Duane Davis, Julie Alt, Gerald Hamman, Donny and Rachel Weber, Karen Harvey, and her many friends from North Carolina and Ohio. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and brother, Kenny Hamman. A celebration of Donna's life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home from 10-11 am with a memorial service honoring her life beginning promptly at 11 am. Friends and family are welcome to share stories and memories in honor of this remarkable woman who touched so many lives. Pastor Les Vnasdale and Celebrant Dave Roberts will speak. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richland County Humane Society.Endnotes
