Lillie Hathcock Russell, 86, of 12618 N.C. Hwy. 138, Norwood, died at 1:13 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at her home, surrounded by her family.The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home from 6 until 8 Wednesday evening. At other times the family will be at the home of Mrs. Russell.Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. James Potts officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.Born May 6, 1922, in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Dimpie Odell and Mary Furr Hathcock and was a retired employee of Rocky River Springs Fish House. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church and she loved her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.She was married to the late Willie C. Russell for 69 years and who preceded her in death Aug. 21, 2007.She is survived by a son, Robert E. Russell and wife, Peggy, of Norwood; a daughter, Mary Evelyn Tucker of Albemarle; three grandchildren, William Russell (serving in Iraq) and Ryan Russell and April Russell of Norwood; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Hunter.Memorials are requested to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, NC 28001.Stanly Funeral Home is in charge.
