Death
Debra Jean (Furr) Washburn, 64, of Selma, passed away May 8, 2022 (Mother's Day). Debra was born on June 22, 1957, to the union of Jerry and Alice Jean Furr. She was their first child and much later the family was blessed with the arrival of Duane, their second child and younger sibling to Debra. Debra graduated from Central High School in 1975 and received certifications in Child Care and Teaching from Fresno City College. She worked several jobs from Pharmacy Technician, Billing Clerk at Fresno Community Hospital to Preschool Teacher and After School Program Coordinator at Cooper Middle School. Debra was a loving and very devoted daughter, wife, mother, cousin, aunt, and friend . Debra was well loved by many; she had a great sense of humor and was always known to have a big grin on her face (No matter what). Debra met Raymond Lee Washburn in 1980 and married that same year. Debra and Ray were inseparable and soon was blessed with the birth of twins, Jeremy Lee Washburn and Joshua Ray Washburn. A year later another blessing occurred, Debra and Ray had another boy, Jarod Duane Washburn. Debra loved helping others and enjoyed being with children. A few years went by and Debra convinced Ray into adopting three more boys; Michael, Eric and Ryan (Baronian). Together as a family they enjoyed camping, fishing, watching movies, attending family gatherings, and car shows. Those left to cherish Debra's memory are her parents, Jerry and Alice Jean Furr (Fresno, CA), brother, Duane Furr (Las Vegas, NV) husband, Ray (Selma, CA) children, Jeremy (Fresno, CA), Joshua (Fresno, CA), Jarod (Fresno, CA) Michael (Fresno, CA), Eric (Fresno, CA) Ryan (Fresno, CA); Debra is also survived by her five grandchildren; Kiya Weber (Fresno, CA) Hunter Weber (Fresno, CA) Alex Washburn (Fresno, CA), Landen Washburn (Fresno, CA), Elleanor Washburn (Fresno, CA) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends. Debra was best known for her zest for life and always greeted everyone with a warm smile. Debra was immensely proud of her family, her pets, and community. Debra leaves nothing behind but beautiful memories. We thank God for lending His best to us for 64 glorious years. Though Debra no longer shines upon us, her legacy will live on. May we be comforted by thoughts of Debra relieved of the pain and burden of life. To Him we belong and to Him we shall return. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Cherished Family Funeral Home in Fresno. Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Selma Cemetery District. In lieu of flowers the family requests you to do something nice for someone in honor of Debra.
