ALBEMARLE -- Mr. John Glenn Tucker, 78, of 1480 Riley Street, died Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at his residence. Funeral service is 2 PM Friday, February 28, at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, Reverend Buddy Compton and Reverend Reese English officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Park, Albemarle, with Masonic graveside rites conducted by Masonic Lodge #348, Albemarle.. The family will meet at the residence, 1480 Riley Street, and will receive friends from 6-8 PM tonight at the funeral home. Mr. Tucker was born in Cabarrus County on November 27, 1924 to the late Josie Phine Furr and the late Wade Andrew Tucker. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and had retired from Mclean Trucking. Mr. Tucker was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Maureen Tucker of Albemarle; son and daughter-in-law, Dolan and Jo of Norwood, NC; brother, William H. "Bud' Tucker of Albemarle; grandsons and spouses, Glenn D. "Dan" and Susan T. Tucker, and Alan Kent and Christi H. Tucker, all of Albemarle; great grandsons Hank Tucker, Kevin Tucker and Luke Tucker; and great granddaughter Rebecca Lynn Tucker. Mr. Tucker was preceded ind eath by a son, Michael Kevin Tucker, and a sister, Mildred Higdon. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Albemarle, 960 N. 1st Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is in charge.
