Death
Edith Carolyn DeColaines, age 94, of McKinney, Texas, passed away March 19, 2009, in McKinney. Edith was born September 19, 1914, in Celina, Texas, to Edwin Taylor and Mattie (Nance) Cherry. She married Donald W. DeColaines on December 26, 1962 in Memphis, Tennessee. Edith graduated from Prosper High School as salutatorian of her class and was a forward for the basketball team. She was a seamstress who also enjoyed traveling, fishing and going to the casinos. Edith was a fun loving person who enjoyed life and believed in fairness for all. She is survived by her daughters, Jeanette Anderson, Alice Drury and her husband, Jim; sons, Johnny “Bill” Bass and his wife, Patricia, Doyle Furr and his wife, Frankie, and David Furr and his wife, Becky; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and loving friends and caregivers, Rosa Villegas and Oralia Garza. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don DeColaines; grandson, Karl Anderson; great-grandson, Steven Jacob Riggs; three sisters and her parents. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M., Saturday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.Endnotes
