Death

Larry Carson Furr, 54, of West End, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, in Southern Pines, with the Rev. Gregg Newton officiating. Burial will follow at the West End Cemetery. Mr. Furr was born March 15, 1958, in Pinehurst, to the late Samuel Lee Furr and Gurlie Faye (Williams) Helton. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved his grandchildren and his 1989 Ford Mustang. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Judy Furr; a daughter, April Lynn Furr King and husband, Jacob, of West End; a brother, Anthony Furr, of West End; two sisters, Donna Kay Reese, of Southern Pines, and Gayla Elizabeth Soto and husband, Julian, of Jackson Springs; and four grandchildren, Lindsay King, Chelsey King, Jacob King Jr. and Katlin King. Mr. Furr was preceded in death by a son in 1989, Jeremy Reid Furr; and two brothers, Richard and Gregory Furr. The Furr family would like to thank everyone for the food, flowers, phone calls and support given in their time of need.
