Death
Eugene Willard Upton, Sr., 60, died Friday night in King's Daughters Hospital. Mr. Upton was a resident of Cartwheel Nursing Home. Prior to his illness he had been employed as a machinist. Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. from Hartman-Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bud Swindall conducting the rites. Burial was in Union Hall Cemetery. Mr. Upton, a native Lincoln Countian, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edna Strickland Upton, Brookhaven; four sons, Eugene Willard "Bo" Upton, Jr., Lucius Edward, Roger Dale and Charles Earl Upton, all of Brookhaven; four daughters, Miss Edna Irene Upton, Mrs. Joyce Ann Case and Mrs. Carol Sue White, all of Brookhaven, Mrs. Mamie Mae Holcomb, Summitt; a sister, Mrs. Thelma Marie Smith, Brookhaven; 14 grandchildren.Published in the Daily Leader, Brookhaven, Mississippi, Nov. 16, 1981
