Death

Mildred Elizabeth (Brooks) Morton, age 80, of 33426 Old Salisbury Rd, Albemarle, N.C., died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle, N.C. She was born December 14, 1928 in Stanly County, NC. She was the daughter of the late Adam Fred Brooks and the late Cora Belle (Smith) Brooks. She was also preceded in death by her husband Aster Vance Morton. She is survived by her Son-Ronald Vance Morton and wife Debra of Stanfield, N.C.; Daughter-Brenda Laramie and husband Robert of Jacksonville, Fla.; Grandchildren, Donna O'Bourke of Granite Quarry, NC and Dion J. Morton of Lawton, OK.; Three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Morton was a homemaker and was a member of Big Lick Baptist Church. Funeral service will be at Oakboro Cemetery at 4:00 PM Sunday, April 26, 2009 , Rev. Jeff Springer officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. Arrangements are being handled by Hartsell Funeral Home - Albemarle.
