Death
CONCORD -- Mrs. Jessie Mae McCollum Furr Ward, 85, of the First Assembly Living Center, died Thursday evening, September 19, 2002, at NorthEast Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 24th, at Oakwood Cemetery, Rev. Tom Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 24th from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at Wilkinson Funeral Home. Mrs. Ward was born April 18, 1917 in Richmond County. She was retired from Belk's Department Store. Surviving are her sons, Gene Furr and wife Sandra of Raleigh, NC and David Furr of Concord; sisters, Vivian Voelkel of Covington, LA and June Kirby of Cherryville, NC; grandchildren, Gene Furr Jr., Elizabeth Penny, Brandon Furr, and Meredith Dykes; and great grandchildren, Jordan Stellar and Ashley Furr. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 200 Branchview Drive SE, Concord, NC 28025. Wilkinson Funeral Home is in charge of services.Published by Charlotte Observer on Sep. 21, 2002
