Death

CONCORD -- Mrs. Myrtle Collett Furr, 79, of 131 Miller Ave. SW, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at NorthEast Medical Center. Funeral service is 11 AM Friday, March 21, at First Baptist Church, with Reverend Tom Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM tonight at Wilkinson Funeral Home. Mrs. Furr was born in Cabarrus Couny on December 29, 1923, to the late David F. and Betty Coley Collett. She was a member of First Baptist Church and worked in various church involvements, and helped with the Cabarrus Baptist Association. Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Susan Furr and husband, Ted Phillips, of Charlotte; son, Mr. James E. Furr, Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, of Charlotte; brother, John Collett of Wichita Falls, TX; sister, Mrs. Lillian F. Vermillion of Concord; and two grandchildren, Kasey and James Phillips. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Furr was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Furr, Sr. in 1987. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 200 Branchview Drive, SE, Concord, NC 28025. Wilkinson's Funeral Home is in charge.
