Death

Billy B. “Bill” Waggoner, 83, of Murphy died Wednesday (December 20, 2006). He was a native of LaSalle Parish, LA, but had lived in Cherokee County since 1948. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army in the European Theatre. Bill was a retired millwright, having worked for C o m m o n w e a l t h Lumber Company and worked the last 21 years for Appalachian Flooring in Ellijay, GA. He was a member of the VFW Post 10222 and American Legion Post 96 and participated in the funeral detail for many years. He was a member of the Murphy First United Methodist Church. Bill enjoyed working in his shop. He was the son of the late Bobbitt B. and Myrtis Godwin Waggoner and the husband of the late Sylvia Furr Waggoner, who died July 31, 1995. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Waggoner Bryson and a son, Billy Waggoner. Surviving are a daughter, Marsha W. Coleman and husband, Ronnie of Murphy; a son, Terry B. Waggoner and wife, Kathy of Brasstown; a sister, Bobbie Wallace of Denver, CO; three brothers, Paul Waggoner of Golden, CO, Kenneth Waggoner of Albuquerque, NM, and Conlye Waggoner of Long Beach, CA; and two grandsons, Johnathon Floyd and Dakota Brock. The family requests memorials be made in memory of Billy B. “Bill” Waggoner to the VFW Post 10222, Murphy’s Veteran’s Building, 79 Park Avenue, Murphy, NC 28906.
