Death

Funeral services celebrating the life of Berlan F. Hargis will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 20, 2017 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Alexandria with Dr. Chris Thacker officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Park under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria. The family requests that visitation be observed at the church from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Mrs. Hargis, 100, of Alexandria, passed from this life on Friday, November 17, 2017. Mrs. Hargis has been a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church since October 10, 1924. She was Past President and member of the Rapides Regional Women’s Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray A. Hargis; parents, James R. and Allie Haynie Furr and brother, Brether Furr. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Hope Sherman and husband, Norm; grandson, Tobey Teague and great grandson, Tristan Teague and a host of other family members and friends.
