Death

Funeral Services for Ella Mae Downes, age 97, of Picayune, MS, who passed away Friday, December 28, 2018, will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019, at 2:00 pm at Roseland Park Baptist Church. Visitation will be Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Roseland Park Baptist Church. Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home. Rev. Dan Young will officiate the service. A native of Pearl River County, MS, she was a retired Teacher's Aide. She was a member of Roseland Park Baptist Church, and the B.A.L.L. Club. Ella Mae was a loving grandmother, great grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend, who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Franklin Furr and Annie Inez Johnson Furr; her husband, Mansfield L. Downes; her daughters, Della Jeanette Freeman and Geraldine "Gerry" Downes; her sister, Della Gay Powell; her brothers, Robert Eugene Furr, Arthur Carl Furr, and Willie "Otto" Furr. Left to cherish her memory are her 2 grandchildren, Rebecca (Doug) Hendricks and Jonathan Freeman; 3 great grandchildren, Kyra Hendricks, Adele Hendricks, and Jackman Hendricks; her sister-in-law, Lottie Furr; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
