Death

Kathleen Furr Beard 'Kathy' Mrs. Beard, 83, of Charlotte, NC, passed away suddenly January 9, 2012 at her residence. She was born November 4, 1928 in Stanly County, North Carolina, to the late Alfred Furr and Callie Honeycutt Furr. Kathy, as she was affectionately known, worked for NAPA Auto Parts in Charlotte for more than 30 years before her retirement. She was the first female outside sales representative. After her formal retirement she proceeded to work at Eckerd Pharmacies and even still volunteered at the Steele Creek Branch Public Library. In earlier years, she and her husband were active in the Red Fez Club and the Charlotte Yacht Club. Private Services will be held by the family. Mrs. Beard is survived by her children: Larry T. Tyson and wife, Debbie and their sons, Jeffrey and Brett of Charlotte, NC; Ronnie Tyson and wife, Cheri and their sons, Chuck and Kevin; Renee Thompson and her husband, Billy and Debbie Williams and her husband, Tommy and their children, Mendy Mullis and Terrin Williams all of Wadesboro, NC and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Beard; her daughter, Lisa Henry and two brothers: Bennett and J.T.
