Death
Miss Sally Maye Furr, age 92, died Friday, April 11, 1986, at the home of her niece, Mrs. W. E. Wallace, 5908 Carmel Road, where she had made her home since 1962. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, April 13, 1986, at Meadow Creek Primitive Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Elder Paul Stroupe and Elder Newell Helms, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Miss Furr was born April 24, 1893, in Stanly County, daughter of the late Wilson C. and Sarah Malinda Robins Furr. In 1901, the family moved to Carmel Road. She worked for the old Kress Stores in uptown Charlotte for several years, and served as Manager of the Five And Dime in Pineville until retiring in 1962. In addition to her niece, Miss Furr is survived by her brother, Mr. Alonzo Furr of Ft. McCoy, FL. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM Saturday at McEwen Funeral Home, Charlotte Chapel.The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, North Carolina, April 12, 1986
