Cassandra Dunn states, "Also, I have been told by an older brother that before my father married my mother, he had previously been married to a woman by the name of Lula Sanders. I found a gravestone at Brown's Chapel, in Moore County, NC with the name Lula Sanders Atkins on it.

Death
Mrs. Lula Britt Stewart, 66, died suddenly Sunday about 6:30 a.m. at her home on North Main Street in Norwood. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Norwood Baptist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. D. Huneycutt, Burial will be in the Norwood Cemetery. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the rites. A retired employee of C and A of Norwood, Mrs. Stewart was the daughter of the late William and Martha Richardson Britt of Moore County. Surviving are one daughter, Miss Betty Lou Stewart of the home; and three sisters, Mrs. Don Thorton of Greensboro, Mrs. Mary Davis of Robbins and Mrs. Den Hutchinson of Norwood.Stanly News and Press, Albemarle, North Carolina, August 31, 1965
