Mount Pleasant, NC - Mrs. Lena Mae Furr Hinson Martin, 85 of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 at CHS-Stanly. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016 at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant, officiated by Rev. Roger Armistead. Burial will follow at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Martin was born March 16, 1931 in Cabarrus County daughter of the late Henry J. Furr, Sr. and Annie Myrtle Rowland Furr. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, growing flowers and gardening. She was preceded in death by her first husband Harvey Lee Hinson. She is survived by her husband Marshall Martin; sons Mike Hinson and wife Gwen of Millingport, and Tim Hinson of Concord; daughter, Pam Lisenby and husband Doug of Norwood; brothers, Ralph Furr and Henry J. "Bub" Furr, Jr. both of Concord and Boyd Lee Furr of Oakboro; sister, Jewell Maxwell of Concord; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to Friendship United Methodist Church, 4695 Mt. Pleasant Rd. S. Concord, NC 28025. Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant is serving the Martin family.
