Death
LOCUST -- Ethel Greer Furr Simpson, 87, of 11522 Crestview Lane, died Friday, January 17, 2003 at NorthEast Medical Center. Funeral is 4 PM Sunday, January 19, at Meadow Creek Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Newell Helms and Reverend Jeff Holder officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM tonight at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. The family will meet at the home, 11522 Crestview Lane. Mrs. Simpson was born in Stanly County on February 1, 1915, to the late Flora Whitley Furr and Adam Furr. She was the widow of Winfred Baker Simpson. Mrs. Simpson had worked for Cannon Mills as a spinner, and was a member of Meadow Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include her son, Winfred Simpson of Norwood, NC; daughters, Doris Bare of N. Wilkesboro, NC and Elaine Page of Locust, NC; and eight grandchildren.
