Death

James Albert Furr, 79, of Sand Springs, OK passed from this life on Wednesday, May 11, 2011. He was born in Russellville, AR on December 24, 1931 to Gordon and Opal (Shedrick) Furr. James was a veteran serving in the Korean War. On December 1, 1949 he married Virginia Gentry in Sapulpa, OK having three sons, Jim, Albert, and Martin. He spent his career with Tulsair Beechcraft serving as the Avionics Shop Manager. James was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Reading was a passion for James, in doing so he consumed the entire non-fiction section of the Sand Springs Library before having to request books from the Tulsa Library system. James was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Bill Furr. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Furr; sons, Jim Furr and wife Belle; Albert Furr and wife Carolyn, Martin Furr and wife Shawn; brother, Chester Furr and wife Fama; grandchildren, James R. Furr, April M. Smith, Theresa Furr, Kristin Bailey, Chris Furr, and Shannon King; and great-grandchildren, Zoe and Sophie King. Viewing and visitation for James will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2011. A memorial service in his honor will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church, 222 N. Adams Road.
