Death
MOUNT PLEASANT - John A. Carriker, 79, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at NorthEast Medical Center. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Howard Baker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Gordon Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant. Born June 19, 1925, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late William Pickney and Mattie Furr Carriker. He was a farmer and retired carpenter. Survivors include wife, Mae Fink Carriker, of the home; sons, Gary Carriker, of Fayetteville, Ga., Terry Carriker and Jerry Carriker, both of Mount Pleasant; daughter, Frances C. Helms, of Concord; brother Fred Carriker, of Concord; sisters Helen Cook and Viola Childers, both of Concord; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
